Earlier this year, in January, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle stirred up a storm after the couple announced stepping down from their duties as the senior members of the Royal family through their official Sussex Royal Instagram account. As per reports, the bombshell decision made by the couple was due to the intrusion of the British media. Now, after the royal exit, according to reports, the couple blacklist four UK tabloids for their misleading stories in a scathing letter to the tabloid editors.
According to reports in the Guardian, Prince Harry, and wife Meghan Markle said that there would be ‘no corroboration and zero engagement’ with the popular UK newspapers The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and Daily Express in a letter addressed to the editors of the tabloids. The couple mentioned that they are cutting off the four major UK tabloids as they do not wish to offer themselves up as currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion. In the letter that was sent to the tabloids, it was mentioned that the decision taken by Prince Harry and Meghan Markel was ‘not in any way a blanket policy for all media.’
An excerpt from the letter published in the report read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have watched people they know -- as well as complete strangers -- have their lives completely pulled apart for no good reason, other than the fact that salacious gossip boosts advertising revenue.” While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle take this huge decision, according to a copy of the letter shared by Financial Times media reporter Mark Di Stefano on Twitter, “This policy is not about avoiding criticism. It's not about shutting down public conversation or censoring accurate reporting."
Meanwhile, it was noted that the Sussexes' communications teams in both the US and the UK would be implementing this policy from here on. On the other hand, after their big announcement, the couple first lived in Vancouver, Canada, until settling down finally in Los Angeles with their son Baby Archie. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their duties as the senior members of the Royal family on April 1, 2020.
